Secondary School Placement
After eighth grade, Friends Academy students move on to a wide variety of independent and public secondary schools. Beginning in the spring of grade seven, the Head of Upper School works closely with students, parents, and teachers in the careful selection and application to secondary schools. In further preparation for the secondary school application process, Friends hosts a Secondary School Night each spring for seventh grade students and their parents, which is attended by admissions officers from various independent day and boarding schools; faculty and administrators conduct mock interviews for eighth grade students each fall; and eighth grade students review for the SSAT in both their math and English classes. Friends Academy students who choose to apply to independent or parochial schools usually have several choices available to them. Public and private schools welcome our graduates as they are well prepared and confident, with a strong sense of self and openness to new experiences.
