SONGWRITING AND PERFORMANCE WORKSHOP
Grades 5–9 | Mornings 9–12 July 1-12
This camp is a musician’s dream! The first week will be filled with creative songwriting workshops, for both individual songs and collaborative co-writes. We will explore: form and structure, hooks and choruses, and how to create a song that speaks to an audience. We want to tell your story through song because your story matters.
The second week will be focused on arranging your song for small ensembles that will be performed at a culminating live performance. We will break into small groups where each member will act as a bandleader, running the rehearsal sessions for their own tune. Because of our attention to arranging, you will be able to accompany others regardless of your musical skill level. This camp is taught by Putnam Murdock, a songwriting graduate of Berklee School of Music and experienced guitarist/singer/songwriter. Check him out at www.putnammurdock.com.
