Welcome to the Development Office
The now familiar story of six men from New Bedford, who, in 1810, with $11,500, some land, and a building, established and endowed a school for the education of young children, illustrates a simple truth: that a group of committed parents, educators, and community leaders have the ability to create and maintain a legacy built around a shared vision.
Today, Friends Academy is a thriving coeducational, independent day school for children in pre-kindergarten through grade 8. Together with the Sally Borden School, a school-within-a-school for students with language-based learning differences, Friends Academy meets the needs of students in the SouthCoast area who seek bold and innovative programs that challenge, and a warm and supportive community that cares.
The Development Office works to support the mission of the School by initiating special events that strengthen our community, producing top notch publications that communicate our stories within and outside the school, and conducting fundraising campaigns that help us provide the resources needed to sustain and bolster our academic and co-curricular offerings.
This is an exciting time for Friends Academy. Our beautiful campus, with its grand old Herring Building, has been artfully blended with modern classroom spaces and renovated places to offer today’s students a truly beautiful setting, worthy of the big ideas and powerful, purposeful learning that happens here.
As always, we rely on the generosity and commitment of our entire school community. Thank you in advance for all you do to help us advance the mission of this institution. If you have not yet done so, please take a moment to visit our on-line giving section. Feel free to contact us if you need further information. We would love to hear from you, and offer you our deepest gratitude for making Friends Academy your number one philanthropic priority.
