Volunteers to Hang Artwork for Arts & Poetry Night

The Art Department is seeking volunteers to help prepare for the upcoming Arts and Poetry Night.  The job entails displaying student art, in all shapes, sizes and forms, throughout the halls of Friends Academy. There is an incredible amount of work to exhibit, but with enough hands, we hope to accomplish this undertaking in one day.

If you are willing and able to donate time on Thursday, April 18th, between 8 and 5, please contact Susan Cogliano or Wendy Goldsmith. Any amount of time is appreciated. No experience necessary!

WE NEED YOUR HELP

Each year we hold a raffle in the weeks leading up to Spring Swing in May. Winners are announced the night of the golf tournament. If you’d like to donate an item to this year’s raffle please email Jodi Pink, Director of Development, at jpink@friendsacademy1810.org. Items have included: a weekends stay at a summer house, tickets to a concert or sporting event, various items making up a spa package, a fishing expedition, etc. Thank you for your support!

COOL BANANA WIG CONCERTS

10 Weeks of free concerts on Thursdays from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m., beginning on March 28.

Touch A Truck & Summer Camps Spectacular!

Saturday April 27: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Ready to TOUCH A TRUCK?! Come to FA to see all sorts of amazing vehicles, up close and personal! What kinds of vehicles? Police and K-9 units, Fire & Rescue, Construction, older passenger vehicles... But wait - there's more! We'll also have live demonstrations of some of our summer camp offerings! See a martial arts demo, practice flint-and-steel fire building, decorate mini-cakes, and more. GRANDFRIENDS’ DAY

SPRING SWING SAVE THE DATE

Join us on Tuesday, May 21 for our annual golf outing at The Bay Club in support of tuition assistance. More details to follow.

First Wednesdays

Our last First Wednesday will be on May 1, from 8:00-11:00. First Wednesdays are a time when we open our doors and invite in prospective parents to attend All-School Meeting and visit in classrooms. Please ask people you think might be interested in Friends to come! Thank you!


LOWER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Band Of Friends is taking it to the streets!

We have scheduled two performances.  Both are optional.  Please carefully read to learn about both opportunities:

#1
Buttonwood Park Zoo - "Party for the Planet!" on April 27th. This is an Earth Day celebration.  We will perform at 1pm.  You will need to show up and meet us at 12:30 to warm up.

#2
AHA! (Art, History, and Architecture) night in New Bedford on May 9th, at 6pm at the Pilgrim United Church at 635 Purchase Street.

Students are invited to stay after school where they will receive pizza at 4:30 pm and a ride to the concert.  We will have a bus leaving from school at 5:15 pm. This is a one-way bus only, so you will need to bring your child home from the concert.  Dress code is normal school attire.

We will perform from about 6 - 6:30pm.  Please come and bring folks. Help spread the word!

For this performance, please let us know:
-if your child is staying after school for pizza and riding the bus
-if you will be taking your child to the Church
-if you are not able to attend, who will be picking up your child from the performance

MIDDLE SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Semester 2 Interim was Friday, April 5th. Reports will be available through BigSIS at the end of this week.

The Friends Academy Song Circles

In the paradigm of how music has been taught and shared for centuries, we want to continue and foster this tradition in our community. Join us the first Friday of every month, from 5-6:00 pm in the Commons. This is an offering for our parent/adult community. Bring your acoustic instruments. Play. Sing. Share. Follow along. Or we’ll follow you. Hosted by our very own Putnam Murdock.
