Announcing our Soup Day Offering!

As a part of our commitment to offering healthy lunch options, we're partnering with local chef, Chris Chaput, to make a different soup each week from locally grown vegetables.

Chris Chaput found a passion for cooking at an early age.  He started his career at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston and eventually made his way to Martha’s Vineyard, where he opened his own business and cooked along some of the Island’s best chefs.  Chris currently resides in Mattapoisett with his partner, Mary Ann and their two year old son Felix.  He is committed to supporting local  sustainable agriculture in the kitchen.  His mission is to build a thriving community through nutrition, education and full bellies.

We will be offering this from January 3, 2018 – March 7, 2018 for the cost of $7.00 per Wednesday.  The soup orders will include a bowl of soup, home-made bread, and a piece of fruit. We’d like this to be eco-friendly and make it a “Bring Your Own Spoon” lunch! We will also offer optional take-home quarts for families to be taken home the same day for the cost of $12.00/quart. Your child’s order will be delivered to their classroom. Forms have gone home with students, or you can download it here. Please return (one form per family) to Ms. Parker in the office.

Ingredients for the various soups can be found here.

All forms, with payment, must be returned by Friday, Dec. 15th. Any questions? Please contact Katherine Furtado by email or  508-999-1356 ext.1104.

It's time to reorder Subway for the remainder of the year. Please return this form to the Main Office by Thursday, December 14th to guarantee delivery on Thursday, January 4th. Thanks!

Important Distinctions between Study Hall and After School Program

Study Hall is open to all students enrolled in the Sally Borden Program and/or the Middle School.  Study Hall runs on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3-4 pm and proctored by two current Sally Borden Program Teachers.  The Study Hall is one hour long and the teachers are there to assist students with their homework.

After School Program is open to all students from EC - grade 8.  The After School program dedicates quiet time until 4 pm for students to complete their homework.  Students may then engage in outdoor play time, indoor play time, or continue with their homework.  The After School program is proctored by four or five young adults.  The adults are there to supervise the students.  The ASP is open until 5:30 pm every school day.

Conversations with the Head

Families are invited to sign up for Conversations with the Head, which touch upon various topics in our school community. Space is limited and we ask that families choose only one event to attend.

FIRST WEDNESDAYS

On Wednesday, February from 8:00 to 11:30, Admissions will host First Wednesday, a time for prospective parents to visit in classrooms and explore our campus.  Please alert interested friends that this is happening!  If you would like to be a Parent Ambassador at this event or have any questions, please contact Katherine Gaudet at kgaudet@friendsacademy1810.org.  Thank you!

The Friends Academy Song Circles

In the paradigm of how music has been taught and shared for centuries, we want to continue and foster this tradition in our community. Join us the first Friday of every month, beginning in November, from 5-6:00 pm in the Commons. This is an offering for our parent/adult community. Bring your acoustic instruments.  Play.  Sing.  Share.  Follow along.  Or we’ll follow you. Hosted by our very own Putnam Murdock.
