From our Reggio Emilia inspired early childhood program to the individual guidance our middle schoolers receive regarding their choices for high school, Friends Academy understands the importance of the relationships that are built between student and teacher. In small classes, our talented and dedicated teachers shape “teachable moments” that repeatedly demonstrate that there are many ways to learn and that questions are just as important as answers.

You will find that balance is a word that is alive and well at Friends Academy. Old-fashioned academic rigor can exist alongside creative uses of technology; a successful athlete can also proudly and comfortably play the violin before an all-school meeting or point to her painting hanging in the hallway; the necessity to embrace twenty-first century skills occurs in a context of personal responsibility and a genuine focus on the individual learning styles of each child. The Sally Borden Program, purposefully designed to address the challenges of language based learning differences, supports an ongoing and dynamic conversation about teaching and learning. The result? All students at Friends Academy are known and respected.
