What is your favorite thing about working at Friends Academy? Building relationships with students and families. Watching children grow, recognize their potential, and feel empowered to do and be their best. I feel blessed to work at Friends Academy! I cherish how FA values creativity and fosters a love of learning while empowering children to be reflective in order to understand themselves, recognize their strengths, and set goals in order to grow.

What do you love to do outside of school? Spending time with my family and friends, specifically my children. Being outside in nature, being active, games, hikes, reading, cooking, baking, singing, and watching my children do the things they love to do, as well as attending and serving as a Sunday School teacher and usher over the years at our church. Honoring my late husband’s memory and legacy as a teacher by providing scholarships through the Shane Eric Martin Foundation.

Do you have children who attend(ed) Friends Academy? Hallie ’21 and Christian ’24

Fun Fact: Mrs. Martin is trained in Responsive Classroom and the Orton-Gillingham Approach to teaching literacy.
