Joined Friends Academy: 2022

Favorite Book (Children’s or Otherwise): My favorite children’s book is Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney. In the story, Alice’s grandfather tells her that she must do something to make the world a more beautiful place. I also have three books regarding social justice that I often reflect upon: Warriors Don’t Cry by Melba Pattillo Beals, Left To Tell by Immaculee Ilibagiza, and Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson.

What is your favorite thing about working at Friends Academy? Without a doubt, my favorite part of working at Friends Academy is the people. Everyone is warm, welcoming, and friendly. The faculty and staff are clearly devoted to all the children who walk these halls.

What do you love to do outside of school? Outside of school, you will find me walking on the beach looking for sea glass and collecting lucky rocks. I also enjoy baking, gardening, biking, or kayaking with my husband, and following the Tottenham Hotspurs of the English Premier League. Rainy days you will find me curled up with a book or working on a puzzle.

Fun Fact: I have been involved in independent schools since 1987. In addition to being an elementary teacher at four different schools prior to FA, I spent eight years working in the Alumni and Development Office at The Hotchkiss School, where I also coached varsity basketball and track and field.
