Students Experience 2024 Solar Eclipse

How special is it to cap off a school day with a solar eclipse?!

This afternoon, friends got to experience a 93% solar eclipse right from our campus. The entire school gathered outdoors from 2-2:30pm to witness the start of the eclipse. Each student and teacher received special solar viewing glasses, allowing everyone to safely view the progress of the moon traveling across the path of the sun.

Science teachers Mrs. Vasa, Ms. C, and Dr. D put together a few activities for students to learn more about the science behind the eclipse: from demonstrations with a solar eclipse model to student-made cardboard pinhole viewers that projected tiny slivers of sun against a white background. At each stop, students got their “solar eclipse passport” stamped as a souvenir of the special day.

For a celebratory spirit, Middle Schoolers painted suns, moons, and stars on the faces and arms of Lower School students under the pavilion.

Take a look at some photos from the experience!
